While Alina's latest novel, My Mother's Secret: A Novel of the Jewish Autonomous Region, covers a little known aspect of recent history, Masha's latest memoir, Parenting with an Accent, provides insights into multicultural dating, raising bilingual kids, dealing with discrimination, and more. Their writing overlaps in examining intergenerational trauma, including in the former Soviet Union, and how it has affected generations of immigrants in the U.S. & how Russia’s war in Ukraine is impacting families around the world, including the writers' own families.
